Kelvin and Kelly Gothman
Kelly's Story- As someone who was raised in a wonderful Christian home, I still went to college not truly knowing what it meant to live in relationship with Jesus. This meant a lot of heartache in living the college lifestyle that everyone was living around me. I was knee deep in my own wounds and just straight up unhappy. It wasn't until my best friend had her own heart transformed by Jesus where I witnessed her joy that ended up being the avenue that Jesus used to then transform my heart and show me what a loving relationship with Him looked like. This would be what set me free. My life was forever changed which led to being a missionary in hope to bring that same joy to women on the college campus.
Kelvin's Story- When I went off to college, I thought I had it figured out. I believed to the depth of my being that if I had a romantic relationship and was well liked by the people around me, then I would be happy. With these two things on the altar of my heart, I found myself falling further and further away from Jesus. Eventually when I got what I wanted I found it to be not enough. I was filled with fear and hopelessness as I asked the question, "what, then, will make me happy?" This question led me to dive into my faith like never before with the help of a few friends God put in my path. What I found transformed my life. I found that Jesus was better than anything I could dream of. I didn't know that life could be so rich with love and meaning. My heart began to break for the men in my life who were as lost as I was. I committed my life to sharing what I had found and this led me to serve as a missionary with FOCUS!
We met serving together our first year with FOCUS. Before long, our friendship turned into a relationship. Our story is one that simply does not exist without Jesus. His hand has been over it since we first started dating, when we broke up, got back together, and later on engaged. He has changed our hearts immensely through this relationship that He has called us to. Now He has increased the desire in both of us to continue to share the Gospel, but now as a married couple!

Hi I’m Marisa Nieto and I’m from Dallas, Texas! My life up until high school was made of Catholic school and Church on Sundays, but I still felt like I was missing something important. I asked God to show me more of Himself because I was curious about how saints, priests, and sisters, could give their whole life to the God that I barely knew.
When I got to college, I walked into daily Mass as a freshman and saw the FOCUS missionaries pray and worship throughout the Mass. I saw they fully understood that this was their source of life and meaning. As I began to seek after God, He showed Himself as someone that wanted a personal relationship with me. He wanted me to bring other people to Him and show the joy and light that comes with knowing Him.
I joined FOCUS to lead people to have a personal relationship with Christ. I see the way God has invited all of us Baptized people to live the Gospel message in our lives. I hope to live this to the fullest, and for Him to use me to bring others to live it too!
